Life Stories

Do you think you’re cool?

That’s what I was afraid of hearing, would they laugh at me?

Would I get oust from the group?
In hindsight I wish I was, no offence boys.

I wanted to act, sing and tell stories… but I hung out with bogans.

I sat 3 rows back, left of centre as I watched our High School production of Grease.
Ironically trying to look cool in the seat, instead of being on stage acting cool!

In my peer group it was compulsory to wear leather or denim.
We were allowed to listen to all genres of music as long as it had rock or metal in the name.

I missed my opportunity.

A few years later, I said to my girlfriend, “I want to be an actor”.
She said, no! Absolutely not, you will kiss girls, she was right.

I missed my opportunity.

Years later in my 30’s, I was relocating to Australia, and I thought here is my chance. This is my opportunity! I had my first ever headshots taken and I was determined to make it.

I got to Aussie and called a casting agency. I delivered what the lady called “a captivating audition”, she then proceeded to sell me into her acting class package.

I missed my opportunity.

A few years later, I created my own production company.
I hired myself to act.
Built my own showreel
Took my own headshots
And created my own opportunity.

Are you creating yours?
